About Mobi 👻

So, first of all: Why “Mobi 👻”? Well, that's easy to answer. I had this domain available that I didn't need for anything else. It ends in mobi (which stands for “mobile” and was originally intended for mobile-friendly websites; which this is, of course). I also use Ghost as the software behind the scenes—hosted on my own server—which is why I use the 👻 emoji.

And why is this my third blog? I am running a blog at 1ppm.de since 2001. And for some time now, I have a second blog at bloeg.li/johannes. Both are in German. Because I really wanted to try out Ghost, but didn't need a third place when I often find it difficult to maintain two, I decided to at least try my hand at a blog in English. (In the hope that I'll come up with more ideas, haha.)

And what is this now? First and foremost, it's a playground for me. I want to try out Ghost and see how the software works and how I can combine a blog with a newsletter. But I also like the challenge of writing texts in a language that is not my mother tongue.

What can you expect to find here? Stories from my youth, perspectives on current developments, notes from my life. Basically, anything that comes to mind and interests me. It remains a personal website.

Will you introduce hefty paywalls as soon as this goes through the roof? Yes. Definitely.
